SUMMARY OF CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY
The following criteria are used to determine eligibility for the Social Entrepreneurial Fund:
- Nonprofit with a 3-6 year successful track record as a 501(c)3. This track record includes demonstrated financial sustainability. We do not provide “seed” funding for new or early-stage business plans or ideas.
- We fund organizations that have demonstrated the ability to scale or be replicated on a regional or national level. The organization is in a growth stage where capacity building rather than model building is the major challenge.
- The organization must be independent and autonomous. The applicant is the primary decision maker for the organization’s development and management. We do not fund startup programs within larger established organizations. We also do not fund the expansion or development of an existing organization that is past its startup phase.
- Organization takes an innovative approach that directly contributes to human development through the arts, education, mental health or health care.
- Entrepreneur must have demonstrated the organizational and fund raising ability and passion to lead a national program.
- Program has Southern California impact or potential for impact in the development plans.
- Demonstrated interest and/or ability to collaborate with a highly engaged funder.
- Applicants must be US citizens.
- We do not fund research projects, lobbying activities or faith-based initiatives promoting a specific faith or religious institution.
- We do not fund organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, age, gender or sexual orientation in policy or practice.
