Victor Nelson, MSW, MBA
Executive Director


Victor Nelson is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with more than 20 years experience working with multidisciplinary social service organizations that serve youth, families, and adults.  He has spent his career in the non-profit sector directing mental health programs, developing new programs, providing clinical leadership, and as a direct service provider. 

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2005, Victor served as Clinical Director for San Diego Center for Children. While there, he provided clinical leadership and managed a variety of multidisciplinary programs serving children and families facing severe behavioral, emotional, social, and educational challenges. Victor developed new programs and expanded services for residential treatment, day treatment, foster care, outpatient, and education programs.  He developed relationships with both public and private funders to expand resources for staff training and the organization’s programs. Victor supervised several emerging therapists in their work providing mental health services to children and families.  In addition, Victor worked as an individual and family therapist in private practice.

Victor has a Masters degree in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Webster University.  He received his B.A. in Psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara.


Susan Hoover Miller, CFRE
Development Director

A fund raising professional for more than 20 years, Susan Hoover Miller has spearheaded annual and major gift programs as well as capital campaigns.  Her expertise also includes strategic planning, board development, feasibility studies and marketing plans.

Susan has served as both an in-house development professional and an outside fund raising consultant with a number of non-profit organizations.  Most recently, she was Senior Major Gifts Officer at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, focusing on completing a $240 million capital campaign.  During her tenure, $26 million in campaign gifts was announced.  Prior to that Susan was Director of Major Gifts at Human Options, a social service organization.  Working with their leadership, she helped them increase giving from major gift donors by more than 400%. 

Susan received her B.S. in English and education from the University of Nebraska.  A Certified Fund Raising Professional since 1994, she was named “Outstanding Fund Raising Professional” in 2000 by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  Susan has been invited to speak about fund raising by the University of California, Irvine, California State Long Beach, California State University of San Diego, Fieldstone Foundation’s Emerging Leader’s Forum, Orange County’s Annual AFP Conference on Philanthropy, and the Volunteer Center of Orange County.

Ken Golden, MSW, Ed.D.
Program Consultant

Dr. Ken Golden is an executive coach and organizational development consultant. He has worked within both the profit and non-profit sectors for over 25 years. Dr. Golden’s consulting practice has focused on change leadership and the professionalization of expanding organizations.  Dr. Golden is Visiting Professor of Management at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has consulted and taught internationally from Iceland to Thailand and throughout Europe.

As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), he has provided direct clinical services to youth, adults and families. He has served as a management trainer and consultant for human service and health care organizations including the National Institute of Mental Health.  He has been an Adjunct Professor in the Schools of Social Work and Business and Assistant Dean in the College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State University.

Dr. Golden has a Masters degree in Social Work and a Doctorate in Education.  He is a former United States Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Ghana, West Africa as an instructor in a teacher training college.
