Foundation Selects Global Sustainability Teachers

The Picerne Family Foundation is pleased to announce that 18 artists have been selected to participate in the 2023 Artist Outreach Project. Each of the artists listed below were awarded $15,000 plus funding for materials to pursue a year-long arts based therapeutic, mentoring or educational project of their own design for people who would otherwise not have access to these arts experiences.

Foundation Offers New Round of Educational Visions Grants

To enhance the working environment for local firefighters, The Picerne Family Foundation’s Giving Back Program recently donated $20,000 to The Los Angeles County Fire Department Foundation. The funds were used to purchase state-of-the-art essential equipment identified as most needed by fire personnel working at several fire station in Los Angeles County.

The Picerne Family Foundation creates Shelter-in-Place: Face-to-Face program to counter isolation of COVID-19 Crisis.

Eleven San Clemente High School students completed a 13 day Earthwatch research expedition in the Yarapa river basin of the Peruvian Amazon. Students surveyed a variety of species including river dolphins, wading and aquatic birds, macaws, fishing bats, frogs, fish and caimans. The data they collected contributes to cutting edge research by Dr. Richard Bodmer aimed at understanding climate change and wildlife in the area.

Global Sustainability Project students from Gahr High School, 2016-17, had their 30 page research findings accepted for publication by the scholarly journal, The International Journal of Innovation & Scholarly Research 2018.

The Gahr High School Global Sustainability Project students presented their research findings on water quality and invasive species at the Don Knabe Community Regional Park and the Heritage Park to the Cerritos City Council and Mayor George Ray at a City Council meeting on February 9.

Gahr High School Global Sustainability Project Students Recognized for Research and Public Education

The Picerne Family Foundation awarded Orange Home Grown in Orange, California a $23,000 grant to create the “Youth Food Literacy Program”. In addition to financial support the Foundation will provide college scholarships to selected participants as well as executive coaching and board development assistance to Orange Home Grown leaders. This project was funded through the Picerne Family Foundation’s Giving Back Program. The Giving Back Program provides support to local nonprofits that are helping develop healthy communities where The Picerne Group has established investments.
